Pickle and Preserve - Labels

It's a good idea to label all pickles and preserves soon after you make them.
You may think you'll remember what something is, but it's a different matter when you've just pulled two of last years jars of chutney out of the back of a cupboard.

At it's simplest labelling can just be hand writing the name and date on a small self adhesive label.

For a more professional look there are blank designs of jam and chutney labels available, or take inspiration from some of the ideas below and create your own.

Wait until jars are cool before labelling, otherwise the glue tends not to work, diluted pva or wallpaper paste works well (and importantly comes off the next time you want to use the jar)
